Heat Pump Covers NZ systems are designed as open-air architectural enclosures intended to provide protection and visual screening while maintaining unrestricted operational airflow around the outdoor unit.

Based on the installed louvre spacing, the screened faces achieve approximately 83.5% open area. Combined with the open-backed and open-air enclosure design, airflow is able to move freely around and through the system without creating a sealed or pressure-restricted environment.

Comparative testing showed negligible operational difference between covered and uncovered conditions across both heating and cooling modes. Sound pressure levels, air-on temperatures, air-off temperatures, and operating differentials remained substantially consistent during testing, supporting that the cover system does not materially restrict operational airflow.
In many installations, particularly balconies, retirement villages, multi-unit developments, and architecturally constrained service areas, increased side clearances may not be practical or achievable. In these situations, the overall airflow performance of the cover system is supported by the high open-area louvre design and open-air enclosure configuration rather than relying solely on oversized width clearances.

Measuring Guide
Height
Taken from the ground (or where bottom of cover is intended to be) to the top of the outdoor unit.
Width
Measured across the widest points of the unit. This does not include parts on the wall that are behind the unit and will fit in the gap between the cover and the wall. E.g. Isolator switch or pipework.
Unit Depth
The 'box' part of the outdoor unit not including mounting feet
Total Depth.
Measured from rear of heat pump unit to front most point inclusive of mounting feet.
